Panama Canal Full Transit Itinerary

Check-in time is subject to last minute changes due to Panama Canal operations. Normally check-in is between 6:30am and 7:30am. Remember to confirm the check-in time one day before, as it is subject to change.

We depart from the Flamenco Marina (behind the Duty Free Shop), Amador, Ciudad de Panamá.

After boarding the ship, we headed to Miraflores, the first set of locks, without first appreciating the view of the Bay of Panama, the largest buildings in the city and the famous Bridge of the Americas.

Miraflores Locks

At the Miraflores Locks the ship ascends a total of 18 meters in 2 water chambers.

The propulsion inside each water chamber in the locks of the historic canal is done by means of locomotives.

On the Panama Canal [Full Transit] boat tour we did not go through the new locks of the 2016 expansion project, but it is necessary to mention that the propulsion there is done by means of tugboats.

Pedro Miguel Locks

After passing through the Miraflores Locks, we navigate through a small lake with the same name. This lake separates the locks on the Pacific side of the Canal with the Pedro Miguel Locks.

At the Pedro Miguel locks, the ship ascends 9 meters in a single chamber of water and when leaving we sail through the Culebra Cut, ending in the Chagres River, very close to the Centennial Bridge.

Gatun Locks

We sail through Gatun Lake, one of the largest artificial lakes in the world.
Then we go through the Gatun Locks where the ship ascends 26 meters in 3 huge water chambers until it reaches the level of the Atlantic Ocean.

Leaving the Gatun Locks, the ship sails directly to the Colón 2000 Cruise Terminal, on the Caribbean coast of the City of Colón, to board the buses and return to Panama City.
