Helicopter tour itinerary
We take off from Marcos A. Gelabert Airport in Albrook, Panama City.
We can leave on any day of the week between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. as long as the helicopter is available.
After fastening our seat belts and ascending, the first thing we see will be the Canal Administration Building and Cerro Ancón.
We head towards the Bridge of the Americas to start this great adventure flying over the entrance to the Panama Canal.
We continue the tour and we will see the millions of containers and the large operating cranes that are in the Port of Balboa.
Miraflores Locks
As the first official stop of the tour, we present the first set of locks, the Miraflores locks, completed in May 1913. They show the history and beauty of the Canal in a dynamic way.
Locks of the Expanded Canal
After observing the Miraflores locks, we deviated in the direction of the Cocolí locks, the Cocolí Locks, which are part of the Canal expansion project, inaugurated on June 26, 2016.
We also fly over Miraflores Lake, this is a small and freshwater lake that separates the two sets of locks on the Pacific side of the canal until we reach the Pedro Miguel Locks.
Pedro Miguel Locks
At 10 minutes we will see the second set of locks, the Pedro Miguel locks, also completed in 1913.
These are part of the old canal and, like those of Miraflores, have a length of 3 kilometers.
Pedro Miguel is the set of locks that joins Miraflores Lake with Gatun Lake.
